How to get to Capilano Suspension Bridge from downtown Vancouver

Getting There
The short version: the park is at 3735 Capilano Road in North Vancouver, about 15 minutes’ drive from downtown. There is a seasonal free shuttle from Canada Place, the Hyatt Regency and the Blue Horizon Hotel, and you need proof of admission for the return leg. Without it, the reliable no-car route is the SeaBus from Waterfront Station to Lonsdale Quay and then bus #236. If the shuttle is not running on your dates, a combo tour does the transfer for you and adds Grouse Mountain.

The free shuttle, and its one catch

The park runs a free shuttle from downtown, seasonally, picking up at Canada Place, the Hyatt Regency and the Blue Horizon Hotel. It is about 15 minutes from downtown, and the park’s own FAQ quotes an average ride of 20 to 25 minutes once traffic is in the mix. The catch is the return: you need proof of admission to ride back, so keep your ticket or your phone screenshot. A separate North Shore shuttle runs from The Shipyards until 7 September 2026.

Seasonal means seasonal. If your dates fall outside it, the shuttle is not a plan, and that is the moment the tour prices on the tours page start to look sensible rather than indulgent.

By SeaBus and bus, with no car

Driving, and what it costs once you stop

It is about 15 minutes from downtown to 3735 Capilano Road, North Vancouver, BC V7R 4J1 (49.3429°N, 123.1149°W). Parking is CAD $9.00 for three hours and the meters are credit card only, though the ticket agents take cash and debit. Three hours is exactly the length of an unhurried visit, so read the parking page before you assume it covers you.

A rideshare from downtown is roughly CAD $25–30 each way. For two people that is fine; for four it is most of a child’s admission in each direction, and the sums on the cost page change shape quickly.

When a tour is the honest answer

Grouse Mountain is up the same road, and there is no shuttle between the two. The tours are what connect them: the seven-hour Capilano and Grouse Mountain day picks up from 83 points including the cruise pier and Richmond hotels, with a primary pickup at the Residence Inn by Marriott around 10:35, and it stops at Cleveland Dam on the way. Rachael from the United Kingdom called it a brilliant way to see some of the area’s highlights, which is about the right level of enthusiasm.

Insider tip

If you are arriving by cruise ship at Canada Place, you are standing at a free-shuttle pickup point in season and at a tour pickup point all year. Check the shuttle dates first and only then look at the coach tours.
