Capilano & Grouse Mountain tour review
My verdict: the seven-hour coach tour is the one I point car-less visitors at, because it solves the problem nothing else solves — there is no bus that runs between Capilano and Grouse Mountain, so a tour is the connection. You get hotel pickup, both admissions, the Skyride and a stop at Cleveland Dam. It is a long day and it is not suitable for wheelchair users. If seven hours is too much, the five-hour small-group version covers the same two attractions.
How the day runs
Pickup is the part people underestimate. There are 83 collection points, which is generous coverage — it reaches the cruise pier and out to Richmond hotels — but it also means the coach is doing a loop before it heads north. The primary pickup is the Residence Inn by Marriott at around 10:35. If you are picked up early you will sit through other stops; if you are picked up late you get a shorter ride and less choice of seat.
The Cleveland Dam stop is the bit nobody books for and everybody mentions afterwards. It is upstream of the park on the same river and it is where you see the shape of the canyon rather than the inside of it. Then Capilano itself, then the Grouse Mountain Skyride. In summer the mountain adds the lumberjack show and the grizzly refuge; outside that season you are buying the Skyride and the view. Gratuities, food and drink are all on you, and since every restaurant at Capilano is inside the gates and the Cliff House takes no reservations, plan to eat at whichever end of the day has a gap.

If your pickup point is one of the later ones on the loop, take it. The coach fills from the first stop onward and the last people on get the shortest ride and the emptier window seats.
Who this is not for
Wheelchair users, first and plainly — the operator states this tour is not suitable, and the bridge, Treetops and Cliffwalk are not accessible in any case. Anyone who wants to linger at Capilano should also think twice: two to three hours is the normal visit and this itinerary has a mountain to get to. And if you have a car, this is CAD arithmetic you do not need — drive up, park for CAD $9.00, and buy admission on its own.
